The Ministry of Health and Medical Services has confirmed twenty-three (23) new positive COVID-19 cases outside border quarantine.

The Ministry of Health and Medical Services reported that amongst these new cases, three of them with mild symptoms were admitted at the isolation center whilst the other twenty cases were home quarantined. According to a recent update from the Ministry of Health and Medical Services two out of the three positive cases at the isolation center have been discharged this afternoon to quarantine at home. This brings the total number of positive cases to 89 which comprises of 36 imported and 53 local cases.

The Government of Kiribati acknowledges the donations of 2,200 doses of Astra Zeneca and other medical supplies from the Government of Australia received on Monday 24th January 2022 to assist in this difficult time.

The public is advised to strictly follow the Ministry of Health and Medical Services Standard Operational Procedures and comply with the curfew order to safeguard themselves and their families from this pandemic.
